3. About Tsuka (mounds)

The mound is situated in Aza-Nobe, which is southwest of Hakonegasaki Station. (Address: 378 Hakonegasaki, Mizuho-machi) When turning left at the first corner on Uranashi Kaido, there is a road leading to Rokudo-no-tsuji, and the mound is situated en route half-way along this route. These days, the immediate south side of the mound has become 'kiridoshi' (the terrain cut through) by Shin-Ome Kaido, and this is where the road ended. The mound is approx. 3-ken (5.5 m) in diameter and 5-shaku (1.5 m) high, and the mound's heaped-up soil is almost black and is covered with grass. There is nothing to indicate the historical origin of the site. The eaves of a private house hang over the north end of the mound, and care needs to be taken to protect the conservational integrity of the site.
