In the first minute of the game, Japan conceded a try to Canada from open play on the left side. However, Honjo scored two penalties in the 4th and 9th minute to even the score. In the 20th minute, Hayashi took advantage when the opponent failed at passing the ball, and scored a come-from-behind try between right and centre of the goal. In the 7th minute of the second half, Kanaya scored a try from a speedy open attack. In the 32nd minute, Toshima scored an insurance try between right and centre. “This is a game we must win. We will win 20-12,” stated coach Hibino before the match. Although the actual score was 24-18, unlike his prediction, because Canada scored a try just before the end of the match, he couldn't stop smiling. The final match of the visit was another test match. “It is good to review the match we won. There were two tries that we scored on an opponent's mistake. In the next match, we will be aggressive and score three tries on our own and concede no more than one try,” said coach Hibino even louder.
